So, here I am.....

The girl that said she'd never blog. The far from computer savvy girl that is always up for a challenge despite a serious lack of time.My blog goals. Do I have blogging goals? Hmmm, I guess I should. So I pledge to be funny, lighthearted, not vent or complain to much and maybe just maybe share a crumb of wit and wisdom on occassion.I will most likely chat about etsy, my addiction and muse. the incredible artsists and friends I have found in a community that oozes with creativity, friendship, support and a home for all things handmade. You will hear me ramble about the insanity of my life including my 3 boys, ages 12, 16 and 53. Yes, that last one I am married to, but trust me, he is just as much boy as man. After 17 years of marriage I find myself raising him along with them. Then again, he would probably say the same of me at times. I will often speak of friends I would go to the ends of the earth for and a family that more often than not defines dysfunction. Then again, I strongly believe a functional family is the stuff legends are made of.I am a lover of music of all kinds and not so much the TV ( except maybe Glee). I have an addiction to handmade glass, especially venetian and lampwork beads as well as unique pottery. I have made a concerted effort to tame my jewelry fetish with my own creations which can be seen at http://www.kjbeads.etsy.com/If you haven't figured out by now, I can jabber my jaws and my fingers as if someone could care what I have to say.

So, a few days ago, I get a package.

It's from a Hussy.

Okay, so i have these gal pals. We call ourselves Hussies. It started as a fun, lighthearted response to some bad vibes goin'round. Well, over the past year, it has evolved into some great friendships. It seems, we all own similar boats. Some are newer models, some old classics. Some seat more than others, but bottom line is, we all understand the work it takes to keep our boats afloat.

We laugh, cry, share, listen and generally boost each other on a daily basis. Mostly, we laugh. Hard! Often at ourselves and each other. It's waaaaay cheaper than therapy and alot more fun.

Sometimes I find myself wishing some of the new found friends lived a little closer. There are a few I'd love to share a drink with or head out shopping with. Then I stop and think, no. It's kind of a special friendship we have. this talk everyday and know so much about each other, yet we've never met thing. I never thought I would ever in a million years find myself on an internet forum. Now I am there daily. What a treat too.

Thanks to great friends and long live the Hussy!

No Time for Sick

Who has time to be sick? Sore throat, stuffy head, exhausted. Who has the time? Especially a week or two before Christmas. Not me, that's for sure. Way to much to do. Then to find out Gram's in the hospital, Blah!

I have to admit, the shopping is almost done and the wrapping is close behind. Thanks to that man who invented the internet. No crowds, no malls, no traffic. MY kind of shopping. I will admit, I miss the spirit you get walking around all the fancy decorations. Maybe I'm getting old, but I am all about easy this year. Not sure I like that, but it is my reality.
The concert tonight should help put me in the spirit a little more. Maybe this cold lifting would help too. Cause like I said, who has time for Sick

A natural Reminder

So today is december 1st, and just in case you have forgotten how fun winter in Chiacgo can be, Mother nature gave us a great reminder today. I spent more time in the car today than one would hope to in this weather and my back is reminding me of just how tense the drive was. Snow, sleet, freezing rain, and now rain. all in one afternoon. Now remembering that this is Chicago; home of the saved parking space, it would be safe to assume most drivers have seen snow. However, there is always that first snow of the season to send people into a tailspin. a few flakes, and you get a few flakes behind the wheel. Today, a few more than any one driver should have to contend with, but I did. and why? for this

and these

A New Frontier

So, it's finally here. Cyber Monday. I am a part of it for the first time. I am excited. I am nervous and I sit impatiently for the unveiling of this cyber shopping phenom. Somehow, I just don;t think it will havethe excitement of the b&M malls with all the noise and fuss. maybe that's a good thing. So, instead of hitting the mall running, I will be hitting the computer chair, keyboarding. I will be hawking my wares to the technologically profient crowd and hoping for the best.
check out my favorites for a few hints on great buys, and visit me here and here so come visit.

Gobble Gobble

So, another Thanskgiving has passed. I love this day. It's all about the food. I love the food. maybe it's that I love what revolves around the food. Friends, family, gatherings, seeing people enjoy the food, all of it. The only holiday with no expectations, no commitments other than to eat and enjoy company as you reflect on all the blessings in your life.
I say we need more days like this. No gifts, no fancy plans, no obligations other than a good hearty meal and good people to share it. that is what life is all about.

So much!

it was one of those wekends where i just don;t know if I'm coming or going. New friend visiting, busy craft show, news of another friends troubles, lack of family time and heading right in to another crazy week. Fun, excitement, sadness, laughter and a hectic schedule. Pretty much the M.O. of my life.

Then of course I find this. That big smile you need at just the right time. I love KarmaRox more than anything. Smart, funny, silly, sweet and she never fails to make me go *titter*

So on to baking pies and cookies, neither of which is my specialty and getting through the holiday week. Thanksgiving is definitely one of my faves. I think becasue it totally revolves around the food. No other expectations, committments, pressures to contend with, just good food, good family and good friends to remind you of why we celebrate in the first place. So I may not make the best Lemon Meringue pies, but I'll give it that old college try.

Meeting a new friend

Yes, the day has finally arrived. I have finally had the pleasure of meeting my etsy friend, avion, of avionmaille. It's way more wonderful than I anticipated. We stayed up late and talked. We made jewelry and shared our creations with each other. Soon we are off to set up for the craft show at Carl Sandburg high School in Orland Park. It's her first show and she is excited. I am excited to have a friend to keep me company ( and talk my ear off). A day can't be bad when it's spent with a good friend!

under construction

yep, that's what this is. Of course the lovely and talented Ms. Gini commented on my first post that fell to it's demise during my revamp. Why do I think I will never stop revamping this blog? Maybe becaue I have no clue what it is that I'm doing. So, sorry my friend, but feel free to comment repeatedly. I will do my best to cherish and preserve your lovely words.
